Summer….

November 12, 2008

Well, summer’s around the corner. I can feel it.

Some significant clues:

It’s 31 degrees Celsius (87.8 Fahrenheit) right now…

The cicadas are noisy.

The shops are full of Christmas decorations.

The neighbours have turned on their air conditioning. We don’t have air conditioning in our house. The frustrating thing is that, last summer, the air coniditioners running through the state cause power blackouts in which every second and third house in our street lost power. We lost power – and we are the ones without air con and who use green energy! Our non-green energy neighbours didn’t even notice as their air con kept working fine. Anyway I’m rambling and whingeing. It’s ok, really. I’d rather be hanging by the coast than sweating here in the suburbs…

299. Arabian Colt

October 2008, pencil on paper.

This is from a greeting card I designed recently. It’s based on the more ‘exotic’ type of Arabian horse – and I must say, for once, I was actually happy with the proportions.

Akhal-Teke Horses

November 12, 2008

I have always thought this breed of horse was very striking and beautiful. An ancient breed, it is pretty rare in Australia. Here’s some links for you (all accessed 10 November 2008)…
