Christian Apologetics

The obvious question is probably:

“What is Christian apologetics?”

The shortest and simplest answer is that Christian apologetics is a branch of Christian theology that deals with finding answers to people’s questions about Christianity. It’s not a word meaning to apologise for one’s faith; it comes from a Greek New Testament word, “apologia,” that means giving an answer, like in a court case when giving a defence.

1 Peter 3:8-15

8 Finally, all of you, be like-minded, be sympathetic, love one another, be compassionate and humble. 9 Do not repay evil with evil or insult with insult. On the contrary, repay evil with blessing, because to this you were called so that you may inherit a blessing. 10 For, “Whoever among you would love life and see good days must keep your tongue from evil and your lips from deceitful speech. 11 Turn from evil and do good; seek peace and pursue it. 12 For the eyes of the Lord are on the righteous and his ears are attentive to their prayer, but the face of the Lord is against those who do evil.” 13 Who is going to harm you if you are eager to do good? 14 But even if you should suffer for what is right, you are blessed. “Do not fear their threats; do not be frightened.” 15 But in your hearts revere Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect, 16 keeping a clear conscience, so that those who speak maliciously against your good behavior in Christ may be ashamed of their slander. 17 It is better, if it is God’s will, to suffer for doing good than for doing evil.

This Scripture above is a good example of the Biblical mandate to be prepared and willing to help people answer their questions about Christianity.

As The Amalgation intends, first and foremost, to be an outlet for my art folio, I won’t be penning the vast majority of apologetics posts on here. They will take the format of links to articles and citations / references to books that may be helpful for the genuine individual who wants to learn about Christianity.

Links provided here are given in good faith but may change at any time without notice. A given link does not necessarily mean total acceptance of the beliefs presented on that article or website.

  1. I am an apologist from India and this is my first opportunity to visit your website, which I enjoyed very much. Those in the field of apologetics need to do much to bring the doubting Thomases to faith and also to strengthen those who wish to get answers.

    Keep writing !!
