426. I’m Not Entirely Sure

27 January 2011. Felt tip marker on paper.

A random scattering of thoughts that apparently maps out a possible evolutionary scenario for clouds.

Happy person with house, spider, and astronomy

Felt tip marker on lined folder paper, A4, circa 2009.

Illustration by N. aged 5 years.

Maybe it’s the biased mother speaking, but I thought this was super cute!

413. Light on Stormy Sea

July 30, 2010

Felt tip marker on paper, October 2009.

I get a lot of enjoyment out of drawing with felt tip markers. Nothing quite beats their bright colours and strength.

403. Bat in colourful night-time

March 10, 2010

2009, felt tip marker on paper.

I like bats, and I like the night. I like the bright colours of felt tip markers.

Trying to capture something quintessentially Australian – gum trees!

321. Horse And Rider

March 9, 2009

Felt tip marker on cream tinted paper, 2008.

Another sketch experimenting with felt tip markers. This was inspired by a warmblood dressage horse photo. I’ve tried to avoid too much detail and try to cnocentrate on the general flow and shapes. I hope that I managed to capture the movements.

320. Multi Coloured Kangaroo

March 2, 2009

20081230-scanart-flokot-14Felt tip marker on blue tinted paper, 2008-ish.

It’s about time I drew some Aussie animals. No, we don’t actually ride around on kangaroos here, but where I grew up it wasn’t unusual to see a paddock full of grazing roos.

319. Trotting Horse On Red Paper

20081230-scanart-flokot-15Felt tip marker on paper, 2008.

I was spending an evening just practising quick sketching and – as usual – the horse theme happened. I was trying to do something different from my usual attempts at remotely reaslistic Arabian Horse faces… I like the freedom and simplicity of line sketches made using humble children’s felt tip markers.

298. Blue Whale

Felt-tip marker on paper, August 2008.

286. Pontificating Porpoise

September 6, 2008

Permanent Marker on yellow tinted linen paper, August 2008.

Hehehehe I’ve been mucking around with whale-themed sketches at the moment. I had to alliterate it, didn’t I?!

Linen paper is fascinating – I found it on the scrapbooking shelf at a local department store. It has this cloth-like texture and is fairly thick. I bought a packet of it to use for craft activities for my teen Bible study group, though ended up using about half of it for my own drawings! 😀

Washed Out Punk Fest

July 10, 2008

Saturday 29 March 2008 8.55 pm

Nothing like spending all day at a soggy music “festival” only to have it washed out an hour before your favourite band. 😦

Early 2008, felt tip marker on paper

A day spent at a local National Park became an opportunity to draw. I packed a mini-sketchbook and some markers, and tried my hand at representing the local sights. Well, it’s a change from drawing horses!

212. Lady On A Chair

Green Dress Girl
Felt tip marker on paper, March 2008.
It’s been a while since I’ve drawn much, and lately I’ve been trying to get back into it.
Oh dear, the day is rushing by, and the house just won’t clean itself.
