419. Pegasus!

November 22, 2010

November 2010.

Well, it’s been a while.  I haven’t had much drawing or writing time recently. Things have been chaotic, to say the least!

Here’s a little cutesy drawing I whipped up on the Gimp using my Eee PC netbook. Picture me drawing using a little touchpad thingamijig (sorry – I have no grip on the technical jargon!).

408. Winged Horse

June 25, 2010

Fineliner ink on paper, 26 October 2009.

It’s a horse, with wings. Yes, I draw a lot of these! Napoleon Dynamite makes a lot of sense to me. Now for a Liger…

404. Winged horse flying over flowers

April 7, 2010

Original illustration: ink fineliner on paper, April 2010. This image is from the RedBubble t-shirt previewer.

I drew this as just a little sketch and my husband turned it into a RedBubble friendly t-shirt. I am very happy with how it turned out. If I can say so myself. I posted it here and here. The first one is my RedBubble Profile, the second is my Bubblesite. The Profile allows users to comment on images and favourite them, the Bubblesite is an online store.

400! Parade of horses.

February 17, 2010

Pencil on paper, 2009.

It seems somewhat fitting that the 400th illustration in my art folio would be a picture of horses, with a pegasus and unicorn joining the parade. For anyone that has been following my blog for even a short time will attest, I like horses and drawing horses. A lot.

My earliest blogged art folio pieces included mermaids and horses, way back in late 2006. Almost 4 years and 400 pieces later, looks like I’m still drawing horses and mermaids! I am happy to see that I have been able to explore new avenues (selling t-shirts, for example) with my art as I’ve hopefully improved and progressed. It has been fun interacting with other art and horse fans on the various sites, too, such as flickr.com and myspace.com.

This is one of my t-shirt designs that I recently added to redbubble.com. RedBubble’s t-shirt previewer (which I first spotted on the site early February 2010) brings it to life. I think it does, anyway!

Here’s the same illlustration as seen through RedBubble’s t-shirt previewer.

More info on this as a t-shirt at my bubblesite.

Art For Sale

June 6, 2009

Some recent additions to my RedBubble Bubblesite and RedBubble Profile, where some of my illustrations and photographs are variously available for sale as greeting cards, art prints, posters, canvases, framed and matted prints and 100% cotton t-shirts in a selection of colours and styles.

My RedBubble Bubblesite Gallery is a simple storefront where people can view and purchase art and t-shirts. My RedBubble Profile provides a lot more information and detail, where other holders of RedBubble accounts can comment, favourite and purchase items. I am really enjoying RedBubble – if you are interested, sign up!

Photos from the Bass Coast, Victoria, Australia. Situated on the South East of the Australian mainland, the Bass Coast is a beautiful stretch of beaches and Marine National Parks. It is notable for its fossils of dinosaurs and bird life – as well as being a spectacularly clean place. I grew up in the area and while I don’t live there anymore, I love travelling there to photograph and sketch it, and to make sure my suburban-raised children grow up knowing what a clean, syringe-free beach is like! The Gippsland Tourism website has information for travellers to the area, see: http://www.gippslandtourism.com.au/South-Gippsland/ and http://www.gippslandtourism.com.au/Bass-Coast/. I am always happy to share info on travelling  to the South Gippsland region, for any blog readers who are interested! The above photo was taken in Kilcunda, which is not far from Wonthaggi.

INRI – inspired by the Latinised abbreviation of “Jesus of Nazareth, King of the Jews.” I’ve made this as both a t-shirt (available in cuts and colours other than the default shown here). While I’ve generally avoided representations of Christianity in my t-shirts, and I on’t want to succumb to cheesiness, I felt that this was a labour of love. The brilliance, uniqueness and wonder of the Gospel – that Jesus died and rose again – means that the vile execution device of the Ancient Romans becomes a symbol of hope for millions of believers linked across the ages. Wow. I can’t begin to describe what Jesus means to me.

Other recent t-shirt designs include a winged horse and hmm another winged horse!

206. Red Pegasus

Pegasus

Watercolour pencil and coloured pencil on paper, 2008.

This sketch was an attempt to try things from a different perspective. I draw horses a lot, and horse-derived mythical beasts a lot, too. This one was drawn late one Saturday night when the kids were distracted with a video and my husband was listening to music on the computer. So, away I sketched. And, why not?!
