376. Collage: horses and birds

August 31, 2009

20090724-flokot-wp11

Mixed media, July 2009.

This is a collage of my various horse sketches and bird sketches, all glued together! The birds are mostly inspired by southern Australian native species. The horses are mostly inspired by Arabian horses.

It’s available as a card or laminated print at my Bubblesite at RedBubble.Com.

This stamp is looking a bit worse for wear. I kept it because I like the illlustration.

Kiwi Celebrating Bicentenary Australia

March 3, 2009

stampcollection2009-45Despite the rumours, I’m pretty sure Australians & New Zealanders actually do like each other. The Kiwi and Koala in this image certainly look friendly. Though they are clearly engaging in an Australian billy tea.

These Australian Threatened Species stamps were out when I first started stamp collecting. As a result I have a LOT of these.

Missin’ the good ol’ days of $0.45 stamps. Here we are some 10 years later and they’re now $0.55. Now that’s inflation at work!

Sparrows in shopping centre

Photograph, January 2008.

Look closely, you’ll see three sparrows tucking into a feast of left overs, at a food court in a city shopping centre. I’m not sure if I should’ve been disgusted – I was more amused by how cute and mischievous the birds seemed!

From 1992… when I was 9 years old! Ah, the good ol’ days when being Aussie actually meant being Aussie…
