Christmas Time Devotionals

November 23, 2010

Christmas Themed Devotional Readings: https://darthmaulmakesmesmile.wordpress.com/tag/Christmas-2008/

In 2008 I wrote a series of 28 Christmas-themed devotionals, beginning with https://darthmaulmakesmesmile.wordpress.com/2008/11/24/christmas01/.

At the time, I wrote:

I thought I’d take some time out to share a few thoughts on Christmas in the month to come, as a sort-of non-denominational pre-Christmas Advent devotional and musings column. I hope that it brings you some light, inspiration and excitement as we remind ourselves of the true meaning of the festive occasion.

I believe it is still relevant and hope you will consider reading it as part of your spiritual journey during December.

The devotionals incorporate Bible scriptures and links to further readings on related topics of faith.

396. Christmas Cat

January 13, 2010

Watercolour pencil and colour pencil on paper, 2009.

I wanted to create a Christmas card friendly design. It was good fun drawing this cat by a fireplace. Even though it’s summer during our Christmas, those of us in the southern end of the continent do get a decent amount of freezing cold days.

Christmas Greetings

December 16, 2009

Hi, everyone!

Just a quick post to wish my regular readers a happy and safe Christmas season. In Australia, that means being aware of bushfires and not throwing cigarette butts on the roadsides when you’re travelling in rural areas!

I will be taking a bit of a blogging break, probably until early next year. I plan to do less frequent blogging next year, as I will be working on my sociology honours dissertation (eep!). However, the drawings will still be coming and please check out my RedBubble site at http://flokot.redbubble.com.

Thanks!

374. Evil Clowns deserve more attention

August 22, 2009

20090724-flokot-wp14

Ink fineliner on paper, July 2009.

There’s something hideous about clowns. Shudder! I don’t know what it is, nor do I know the origin of my fascination with evil clowns. There are Christmas-inspired elements here, too – namely the reindeer and the tinsel on the mast.

In terms of influences in my own life –

There’s an episode of the Simpsons where Rod and Todd Flanders poke a drunk and passed-out Krusty the Klown. They ask the question, ‘Do you think he’s evil?’

Then there’s all the clowns in heavy metal culture. Maybe its some weird horror movie thing. I don’t watch horror movies so I wouldn’t know…

I’m not sure if any of this makes much sense, but there it is. Enjoy!
